EU Blue Card - minimum gross salary requirement for a part-time position

The gross monthly salary requirement of HUF 883,671 for the EU Blue Card is an absolute minimum, which cannot be proportionally reduced in the case of part-time employment.

Based on the concerning rules, the gross salary of the EU Blue Card shall be at least 883,671 HUF. The question arises as to whether, in the case of a part-time position, this minimum amount may be proportionally reduced. According to the position of the competent authority, the HUF 883,671 gross salary shall be regarded as an absolute minimum threshold for EU Blue Card holders. Therefore, even in the case of part-time employment, the gross salary must still reach HUF 883,671. In other words, a proportionate reduction of the minimum salary requirement cannot be applied.

Accordingly, if an employer wishes to hire a third-country national for a 20-hour/week position under an EU Blue Card, and the full-time gross salary for the position is HUF 883,671, the salary for the part-time position must also be at least HUF 883,671, not HUF 441,836.
